Colorado Springs opens $15M senior center facility
The City of Colorado Springs and the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region celebrated the grand opening of the new 23,000-square-foot Colorado Springs Senior Center with a ribbon cutting and open house that drew around 1,300 supporters.
The center is now fully operational. Funded by nearly $12.4 million from the America Rescue Plan Act funds, as well as generous support from Lyda Hill Philanthropies, the Colorado Springs Health Foundation and the federal Community Development Block Grant program, the total project cost is estimated at nearly $15.3 million.
The expanded facility features indoor pickleball courts, larger classrooms, a tech lab, dining and fitness spaces, outdoor gathering areas and triple the parking. The YMCA manages daily programming while the city provides the facility.
