The EAEPCC Welcomes PEARLS
Join us on September 16th to learn about PEARLS, a Program to Encourage Active Rewarding Lives for Seniors!
Cynthia, PEARLS director and lead coach, will be introducing their program and explaining how they help build the resilience of older adults in our community and enhance their quality of life.
“PEARLS is one of only a handful of programs that focuses on helping older adults develop the skills they need to maintain their health, happiness, and independence. The program is part of a cultural shift in how depression is managed by and for aging community members. Most programs address depression and anxiety in older adults using only the clinical mental health toolkit (counseling and/or medication), while PEARLS focuses on skill building” (Source).
PEARLS also focuses on assisting adults aged 60+ who are experiencing late onset of neurological issues, such as seizures, multiple sclerosis (MS), Parkinson's disease, and dementia. The program aims to improve the quality of life for participants by providing tailored interventions, education, support, and resources. In this area Coaches specialize in education of families once they have found that they need more knowledge in Caregiving. People with late onset of neurological issues need care in a very different way than many of the other terminal illnesses.
Check out this quick video HERE as an intro, and come find out more about this amazing program which is dedicated to serving all older adults of El Paso and Teller Counties, no matter the distance.
