ECCO Medical Pueblo: non-surgical options for common conditions

Mar 24, 2026 03:13PM ● By Katie Soenke

When everyday activities start to feel harder, many people assume surgery is the next step. But ECCO Medical in Pueblo is offering another path for patients seeking relief from arthritis, circulation problems and other common conditions without surgery or lengthy recovery times.

Founded in the Denver area by interventional radiologist Dr. Aaron Kovaleski, ECCO Medical—short for Endovascular Consultants of Colorado—specializes in minimally invasive procedures that treat certain conditions from inside the blood vessels.

Using imaging tools such as ultrasound and X-ray, providers guide treatment through the body. Most procedures require only a small needle entry, similar to starting an IV, and are performed with light sedation. Treatment often takes about an hour in the clinic’s outpatient setting, where consultations, imaging and procedures all happen under one roof.

“They walk in and they walk out,” Kovaleski said. “Recovery is usually very minimal.”

About 70% of ECCO's patients are seniors seeking relief from conditions that affect everyday life.

Among the most common are arthritis and enlarged prostate, both of which may be treated with a procedure called embolization. By limiting blood flow to targeted tissue, embolization can provide relief that may last up to two years.

“For people who want to avoid surgery or repeated steroid injections, it can be a really helpful option,” Kovaleski said.

Interventional radiology can also help address circulation problems, including varicose veins and sores on the feet or legs that will not heal.

Kovaleski opened ECCO’s Pueblo location at 323 S. Purcell Blvd. in 2024 after recognizing a need for more specialized care in the area.

“People often have to travel far for this kind of care,” Kovaleski said. “We wanted to make it available closer to home.”

Kovaleski said ECCO grew out of his earlier experience in hospital medicine.

“I started my career as an ER doctor,” he said. “I was used to seeing patients and interacting with them. When I moved into hospital-based radiology, I realized we weren’t really getting to know the patients before or after.”

That experience led him to build a practice centered on more personal, accessible care.

“You get to know the people here,” Kovaleski said. “Patients know who they’re talking to and who they can call if they have a question.”

The procedures offered at ECCO Medical are covered by insurance, including Medicare.

“At the end of the day, it’s about helping people feel better and get back to living their lives,” Kovaleski said.
