Monica Hall to speak at Giodone Library for Women’s History Month
In recognition of Women’s History Month, Monica Hall will share her powerful story, “From Student to Citizen Advocate,” from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. March 13 at the Giodone Library, 24655 US Highway 50. In 2009, Hall’s plans to advance her nursing education were derailed when her program was shut down for substandard coursework and low board pass rates. With just $10 to her name, she took her fight to the Kentucky State Capitol. There, she worked with lawmakers to help regulate the for-profit college industry. In this candid presentation, Hall reflects not only on the legislative victory, but also on the personal and mental health toll of a decade-long battle.
